Wilhelm Leibl’s Das ungleiche Paar (“The Ill-Matched Couple”), painted 1876–1877, depicts an elderly farmer and a young girl in a tavern interior — a study in contrast between weathered age and youth. Held today at the Städel Museum, Frankfurt am Main.

This original plate was printed for the Hungarian Fine Arts Fund edition of Századok Festészete, Budapest, 1961.
